Tire condition specs

Does anyone know what causes tire splitting on the main gear? I've attached a picture and I've never seen a tire wear like this. Usually the tread wears, a little cord shows, and it's time to replace it. With this kind of wear, does anyone have a rule of thumb they use for replacement? I can't seem to find any factory specs on tolerances for tire damage either.

Looks like it might also be a cut. I'd replace the tire. Easy to do if you have the right tools. see this link: https://www.superpetrelowners.com/fo.../308-flat-tire

These tires are relatively cheap. Low cost to replace, but also low quality to begin with. I agree with Bill. I would just replace it. Not worth a blow out or flat tire.
